ATASCADERO HOME SCHOOL - Kindergarten-8th Grade

This program offers a wonderful alternative to the traditional classroom for parents who feel they can best meet the individual needs of their student in a home-centered program.  Home schooling is an exciting opportunity which allows parents the ability to expand their child's learning above and beyond what the classroom has to offer and enables children to learn at their own pace and in a manner which best suites their learning style.  The district provides a highly qualified credentialed teacher to meet with parents and students regularly,  design lesson plans based upon California State Standards and grade-level expectations, offer instructional support, and provide learning materials similar to what is offered in the traditional classroom at no cost to the parent.  Alternative curriculum can be integrated as necessary.  The responsibility of the parent is to provide the daily instruction and the teacher will verify and evaluate completed work.  District and State assessments are administered to monitor growth and pinpoint areas of need.

Our Home School program offers many enrichment opportunities, including:

* Workshops in ceramics, science, sewing/quilting, art, and writing
* Individualized instructional support
* Holiday parties
* Science Fair
* Field trips
* Access to Junior High electives
* Large resource room with materials available for checkout (science
   supplies and kits, math manipulatives and games, literature books)

HOW TO ENROLL IN HOME SCHOOL

Enrollment is open throughout the school year.  Students from other districts must first obtain an Interdistrict Transfer (IDT) from their home district.  Once that is obtained, complete the Home School Enrollment Packet provided by our secretary, Judi Lilley, at Santa Margarita Elementary School/West Mall Alternative School, located at 22070 "H" Street in Santa Margarita.
